The New Art Gallery Walsall is 10.

 

This exhibition features a consciously eclectic range of artists whose works are linked through broad reference to the party, a theme which will extend across music, singing, dancing, greetings cards, food and drink, dress and decorations.

Whilst the show mainly comprises of contemporary art, a selection of modern and historic works will also be included. Amongst the revelry will lurk darker and more sinister undercurrents!

 

The exhibition will be on display on the 3rd and 4th floors and throughout the building.

David Shrigley talk Friday 26th February 2010

David Shriley was commissioned to create a series of drawings especially for the PARTY! exhibtion.

He gave an interesting and humorous talk at Walsall College, describing his proloific practice as an artist and designer, speaking about the range of the projects he has been involved with, from film making to designing tattoos.

Exhibition curators Deborah Robinson and Helen Jones lead a tour of PARTY! giving an explaination of how the concept for the exhibition came about, and the relationships between many of the works on show.
