Robert and Roberta , clever people doing clever things and yet......
Through Epstein's papers with hands like wax, you have moved and dug, and left your tracks, interpret Jacob as mean and weak, use him to garner what you seek.
Theo, colours of madness on the wall, bright peacock of life, artistic blindness can't hurt him at all, as these clerics of art, with paint-box scrawl, offer the public wood, tin and string, spiritless object, a meaningless thing.
This is a expo of mundane and crass, brushes on rope and other such trash, guess it don't matter if you're taking the cash, from Arts Council funds, but you left this observer, out in the park, coz this is not art, you're larking about, and in the sunlight, what I see, is an empty canvas, which in its virgin state, has the things this residency lacks, an understanding of grief, madness and joy............

Hello all - to anyone who doesn't know who I am, I used to work in the magnificent Art Library with Cheryl until very recently - Cheryl will fill you in on the rest!

I felt compelled to drop you a line having read the various bits and pieces above... what an exciting time at the NAG I am missing out on! I always loved rummaging around in the archive... in a sense, the lack of a catalogue made it all the more intriguing - we never really knew what we were going to find. Having it catalogued will be such a fantastic resource though. And the process of doing so seems to be inspiring some really interesting stuff, which is always a good thing.

I must, must, must swing by and see all of this for myself... perhaps I can arrange a proper visit and you can show me all the goings on behind the scenes? It would be a pleasure to meet everyone involved and to get down in that archive again... Looking forward to it already.

I stopped off on the train to visit a year ago or so it was a bit of a shock after visiting Brum art museum,
Birmingham is a well established museum with lots of history & dosh - but I was really disappointed how at Walsall
there seemed to be so much pretence & self importance about so little content .
But at least you've got a Gallery and I will visit the Gallery again - in anticipation !
Best of luck though with getting more works ,though from what I remember it looks like most of your budget goes on Staff and security !

Hi both,
I think the cabinet is a really nice idea, people loved going through ARCHIVE, the cabinet of artists' books we had in the library a couple of weeks ago. There's something about being able to sift through a collection that's exciting - I suppose its because it feels like you are discovering something rather than having it presented to you.

My favourite exhibit was in the Dean Gallery was the re-creation of Paolozzi's studio, in fact it reminded me a little of those photos of Epstein's studio, with all of those heads on the shelves.
